Healthcare professionals

Healthcare professionals carry out healthcare procedures as part of their profession. They perform tasks on behalf of or instead of a doctor. A healthcare professional is therefore someone who provides direct or indirect care to patiënts.

The title healthcare professional is a general term and is not, in itself, a job or qualification. Training enables a healthcare professional to take on a particular role or obtain a qualification. Examples of healthcare professionals include physiotherapists, podiatrists, speech and language therapists and diëtitians. Healthcare professionals work at different levels.
